Project Summary
“Over the summer of 2022, I took the opportunity to learn SwiftUI. During this time, I noticed a lack of well-designed Pomodoro timers for the Apple Watch, so I decided to develop one myself. I opted for a minimalistic approach and closely followed the Apple Human Interface Guidelines.
Pomadoro Principle
“The Pomodoro Technique is a time management method developed by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s. It’s a simple yet effective way to boost focus and productivity by breaking work into intervals separated by short breaks. Here’s how it works:
1. Set Timer: Choose a task and set a timer for 25 minutes (a “Pomodoro”).
2. Work: Focus solely on the task until the timer rings.
3. Short Break: Take a 5-minute break after each Pomodoro.
4. Repeat: Start another Pomodoro, then take a longer break (15-30 minutes) after four Pomodoros.
This technique helps maintain focus and avoid burnout by balancing work with regular breaks. Feel free to adjust intervals as needed.
Ticking Clock Sound
American scientists from the University of Florida have proven that the ticking sound of a clock increases concentration on tasks and helps clear the mind of unnecessary thoughts. The Pomodoro app uses light vibrations and a ticking sound every second during the 25-minute concentration period to enhance focus.
